SERMON NOTES: GIFT OF THE FATHER

Special Focus: ALTAR’D: 21 Days of Transformation

1. We will kick off Sunday, January 6th and run from the 7th to the 27^th

• Theme Verse: Romans 12:1 (TPT) – Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.

• ALTAR’D – Altar: to build an altar in our lives… and offer our lives as scared, living sacrifices. Alter: to be changed – we are believing for change in each one of our lives.

• We are going to:
  • Fast – we are going to encourage everyone to fast in some capacity for the 21 days
  • Pray – we are going to have daily prayer targets, prayer calls.
  • Read – we are going to read the word of God together. 
  • Watch – we have daily video devotionals
  • Gather together – we are going to come together for prayer/worship on the Friday nights

• Let’s start 2019 by putting God first and set our course for what He wants to do in the coming year.

The Gift of the Father

We are continuing our series on the Gift of the Father and I want to take some time to talk about the heart of God as revealed through Jesus

John 3:16-17 (TPT) – 16 For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him[b] will never perish but experience everlasting life. 17 “God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it!

1) “For this is how much God loved the world”… God is love (1 John 4:8)

1 Cor 13:4-8 (TPT) – 4 Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. 5 Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. 6 Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. 7 Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. 8 Love never stops loving….

• A Great Study: Insert God where you find LOVE

12. Our sins are forgiven (Eph 1:7)
13. Purpose for living (Eph. 1:12, 14)
14. The righteousness of Christ (2 Cor. 5:21)
15. Christ in us (Col. 1:27)
16. Life (1 John 5:11-13)
17. Mercy (Ps. 103:10-11)
18. The Peace of God (Phil. 4:6-7)

3) “God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it”… God is not about condemning people but rescuing them!

• God is not about condemning people but rescuing them… we should be too!

• Condemn = to express complete disapproval of, especially in public. To sentence someone to punishment. To force someone to endure something unpleasant or undesirable. To show the guilt of. To officially declare unfit for use or service

• Rescue = to save someone from a distressing or dangerous situation. To keep from being lost or abandoned
