SERMON NOTES: Word of the Lord 2019

1) 2019 will rise and fall on our prayer lives.

  • “History belongs to the intercessors, who believe the future into being. If this is so, then intercession, far from being an escape from action, is a means of focusing for action and of creating action” – Walter Winks
  • “God has placed the pen of history in the hands of a praying church” – Lou Engle
  • I Cor 14:15 (ESV) – 15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.
  • We need to pray in the spirit and in our understanding
  • Prayer is not just for the faithful few but for every follower of Jesus
  • Luke 11:1 (ESV) – Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”
  • “Prayer is not learned in a classroom but in the closet.” – E. M. Bounds
  • “We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little; many services, but few conversions; much machinery, but few results.” – R.A. Torrey

2) 2019 is a year to step out into new things that God is doing in your life.

  • 1 Cor 16:9 (TPT) – There’s an amazing door of opportunity standing wide open for me to minister here, even though there are many who oppose and stand against me
  • The doors will open but we need to step though it
  • Your destiny will not be found in your comfort zone
  • We need to discipline ourselves and prepare for what is coming
  • 1 Cor 9:24-27 (TPT) – …25 A true athlete will be disciplined in every respect, practicing constant self-control in order to win a laurel wreath that quickly withers. But we run our race to win a victor’s crown that will last forever…
  • We are going to need to take risks
  • Matthew 14:23-29 (TPT) – Peter walks on the water

3) 2019 is a year for new levels of maturity.

  • Galatians 4:1 (NLT) – Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had.
  • There is so much in God that belongs to you but you won’t access it until you grow up and mature!
  • Ephesians 4:14-16 (NLT) – 14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching…
  1. Grow in truth
  2. Grow in love
  3. Grow to be more like Jesus
  4. Grow in stability
  5. Grow in service

4) 2019 is a year to grow in and develop our faith.

  • Romans 1:17 (ESV) – For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
  • We are called to live by faith… not dabble in it… not use it as our spare tire in emergency situations… not live off someone else’s faith.
  • There are those of us who have strong roots of faith in our lives that we need to go back to.
  • There are many of us that need to dig deep in an understanding of what the Bible teaches about faith and how to walk in it
  • Hebrews 6:12 (TPT) – 12 So don’t allow your hearts to grow dull or lose your enthusiasm, but follow the example of those who fully received what God has promised because of their strong faith and patient endurance
  • We are called to marry strong faith and patient endurance to see the promises come to pass – they won’t ‘just happen’
  • Romans 10:17 (NKJV) – So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
  • Invest time in 2019 in hearing the Word of God

5) 2019 is a year for us to stand with our church family members who are believing for spouses and see breakthrough in this area.

  • Psalm 37:4 (NLT) – Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
  • We have church family members who are believing for spouses and we need to join our faith with them that 2019 will be the year that divine connections will be made.
  • 2019 will be the year of divine connections and 2020 will be a year of weddings!

6) 2019 is a year for us to focus our prayer/action on the upcoming National Elections.

  • Proverbs 29:2 (NKJV) – When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan
  • Faytene Grassechi: “in our last election there was much prayer in the Body of Christ but there was little practical action – we want to see this improve”
  • We need to pray but we also need to be led by the Lord in how we act

7) 2019 is a year for us to contend for revival.

  • We are called to Multitudes, Miracle and Millions
  • Mama Cindy Word: Steward a historic revival
  • 2019 is a year to learn about revival, pray for revival, hunger for revival and prepare to steward revival.
