3 John 2 (NKJV) – Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

  • God’s desire is for us to prosper and be in health in this season… this is directly connected to our ’soul prosperity’
  • 1 Thess 5:23 (ESV) – …and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We are a spirit, we have a soul, we live in a body
  • Our soul = our mind, will, and emotions
  • God wants to prosper our souls in this season

Does my thinking really matter?

  • Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) – For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
  • 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) – 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
  • James 1:5-8 (ESV) – …7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Nehemiah 4:17 (ESV) – 17 who were building on the wall. Those who carried burdens were loaded in such a way that each laboured on the work with one hand and held his weapon with the other.

  • When it comes to a prosperous mind we will need to build and we will need to battle.
  • This lesson our focus is on building = We need to renew our minds!

Romans 12:2 (ESV) – Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

  • Renewal = means a renewal, a renovation, complete change for the better
  • Renewing your mind is not like renewing your driver’s license or library card, which can be done quickly and doesn’t have to be repeated for months or years. Renewing your mind is more like undertaking the job of renewing and refurbishing an old house. It doesn’t happen quickly; it takes time, energy, and effort, and there is always something that needs attention. – Joyce Meyers
  • NLT – 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

So how do I change the way I think?

Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV) – 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  • There is God’s way of thinking and then there is our way of thinking
  • When our thinking that is in alignment with God’s thinking we will prosper/see life.
  • When our thinking is not in alignment with God’s thinking we are going to struggle.
  • The key: find out what God thinks and get into alignment

So how do we know what God thinks?

  • He wrote it out for us! It’s the Bible.
  • If you will invest time in reading, studying, memorizing, meditating, praying, declaring the Word of God your thinking will be renovated from your way to His!
  • There is a natural element to this – when you invest time studying something it changes your thinking BUT there is a supernatural element to this as well…
  • Hebrews 4:12 (NLT) – 12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
  • Psalm 119:11 (ESV) – I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
  • When we invest in the Word of God it begins to supernaturally transform us

Well, how much do I have to do it?

  • Well, how much do you want to prosper and be in health? How tired are you of some of the mess that is going on in your life?
  • Change comes when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change
  • Practical Steps:
  1. Read your Bible every day – have a plan.
  2. Memorize scripture verses.
  3. Learn to meditate in the Word of God
  4. Listen to the Bible
  5. Listen to Word-based, faith-building messages on a regular basis

“Where the mind goes, the man follows.” If you don’t like your life, go home, have a meeting with yourself, and think about what you have been thinking about. Instead of blaming it on everything else, have a meeting with yourself and just ask yourself if it’s time for you to get rid of your stinking thinking – Joyce Meyer
