MESSAGE NOTES: Healing School Sunday

ANOINTED WITH POWER

Introduction:

  • We have committed this year to monthly ‘lean into’ healing and the supernatural power of God
  • Last month we talked about “Why Healing” and why this was important that we contend for a greater manifestation in this area.

Acts 10:38 (ESV) – how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

  • We see that Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil – as Christians we are called to do the same
  • Jesus did this because he was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power

MESSAGE NOTES: Fast Forward #2

02: DON’T DO IT

INTRODUCTION

  • God wants to speak to us about our destiny, purpose and calling
  • We are called to be people of Holy Ambition – those who have a passion to serve His purposes in our generation
  • We have set aside these 20 days of prayer and fasting to ‘ask, seek, knock’
  • I really sensed to pick up where we left off on Friday Night… Pastor Sharon was sharing about the word the Lord gave her about ‘you are dragging, because you are dragging’

I want to talk to encourage you in two things you need to cut off coming into 2020:

SERMON NOTES: Word of the Lord 2019

SEVEN THINGS I BELIEVE GOD IS SAYING TO US IN 2019

1) 2019 will rise and fall on our prayer lives.

  • “History belongs to the intercessors, who believe the future into being. If this is so, then intercession, far from being an escape from action, is a means of focusing for action and of creating action” – Walter Winks
  • “God has placed the pen of history in the hands of a praying church” – Lou Engle
  • I Cor 14:15 (ESV) – 15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.
  • We need to pray in the spirit and in our understanding
  • Prayer is not just for the faithful few but for every follower of Jesus
  • Luke 11:1 (ESV) – Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”
  • “Prayer is not learned in a classroom but in the closet.” – E. M. Bounds
  • “We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little; many services, but few conversions; much machinery, but few results.” – R.A. Torrey

REPOST: Get the Most Out of 2019: F8 LIFE Goals

One of my personal disciplines at the start of each year is that I take a fresh look at my goals using something I call the ‘F8 Life Goals’. Basically, F8 Life Goals gives you a lens to look at your life through and identify goals, priorities and areas of focus. I have found it helpful to use it as a framework to make sure I’m looking at my life holistically and planning for personal growth. (Please note: the way I’m wired it works for me to have several goals in each of the eight areas. If that is too much for you feel free to pick one goal in each of the areas or even pick several of the areas to focus on for the coming year) Hope this is helpful.F

F8 Life Goals Worksheet

There are many good ways to approach setting goals for your life. At Toronto City Church we have learned/developed an approach we call F8 Life Goals. In this approach, you look at your life through the lens of eight different categories and set goals for each area. The categories are:

Message Notes: 30 + 18 = 5 – Remembering the Merge

“30 + 18 = 5” REMEMBERING THE MERGE

John 12:24 (ESV)  – 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

I have really enjoyed the past several weeks of ‘A Summer to Remember’ – it has been very moving for me to reflect on all that God has done in both Toronto City Church and in Church Without Limits over the years. I have especially loved hearing the stories/testimonies from people.

Some things I have observed over the past several weeks:

  1. Both churches experience significant/special moves of God over their time
  2. There was great sacrifice/passion/faith that was invested in both churches
  3. Both churches “were family”
  4. Both churches had a passion to reach and impact our city… to advance the Kingdom of God, to impact the nations

Message Notes: Living to Give #04 – Leave a Legacy

I       INTRODUCTION

A)  Today is our Breakout 2018 LEGACY Offering as well as the conclusion of our “Live to Give” series. A key theme for us this month has been legacy

B)  Legacy = something tangible that is passed from one generation to another

C)  Legacy and giving are powerfully connected – legacy is all about giving. Legacy is about sacrificing now, plowing the way, and laying a foundation so others can go further and farther

D)  Here at TCC we are experiencing the fruit of 48+ combined years of prayer, sacrifice, obedience, perseverance and giving… it’s the season to renew our focus on the legacy we will be leaving to the next generation

II     KEY LEGACY STATEMENT: WE ARE AN INTERCULTURAL SPIRITUAL FAMILY DEVOTED TO TAKING THE GOSPEL TO THE NATIONS Continue reading →

Message Notes: Living to Give #2 – Give and It Shall Be Given

#02: GIVE AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN

I       INTRODUCTION

A)  I want to talk to you about our LEGACY Breakout Offering on Sunday, June 24th

B)  Legacy = something tangible that is passed from one generation to another

C)  This year Toronto City Church is celebrating 30 years. Church Without Limits would have been celebrating its 18th Anniversary. What we are experiencing now is because there were many people who have prayed, served, been faithful, scarfed and sowed… some who are here and some who are not. They have left a legacy to us.

D)  We are coming into a new season of faith, contending, praying, sowing and sacrificing for what God wants to do in the next 30 years and we are going to pay the price now to leave a legacy for the next generation. We are going to be FUTURE focused.

E)  For the next season, our LEGACY Offering is going to focus on two key thrusts: we are going to attack our mortgage and we are going to strategically invest in key advancements.

F)   Our mortgage is currently $2.6 million. Last year we were able to take an extra $60,000 off of it and our goal is that every year we will continue to go above and beyond our regular payments to pay it down. We are believing the Lord to be debt-free. And we still have Phase 3 to build.

G)  Next week I’m going to talk about some of the other elements of this years offering.

H)  I want to call on every member of our church family to seek God and give into this special offering (above your regular tithes and offerings)

I)     We are also going to be starting the LEGACY Company – a group of people who are committed to give above and beyond in the vision/mission of TCC in a strategic way and help us push forward into the future. Continue reading →
